Project Overview

The Small Diameter Sewer Cleaning Project supports DeKalb County’s compliance with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Consent Decree and Maintenance Management System (MMS) program. The work encompasses the cleaning and CCTV verification of gravity sewer lines, locating and exposing buried manholes, providing continuous bypass pumping, and site restoration.

Our Scope of Work

AEC provides:

• Hydraulic cleaning and CCTV verification of small-diameter sewer lines
• Condition assessments and manhole location documentation
• Data QA/QC and integration with GIS and Cityworks asset management systems
• Support for bypass pumping operations and site restoration activities
• Field coordination to ensure safety, compliance, and schedule adherence

Program Impact

This multiyear initiative enhances the reliability of DeKalb County’s 2,700-mile sewer network and 70,000 manholes. AEC’s work contributes to improved system performance, reduced overflows, and long-term sustainability for the county’s wastewater infrastructure.
